Sturmgeschutz Group Build
In the late summer of 2008, the AMPS-CV members decided to embark on a joint project with a single theme. It didn't take long for the members to agree on the German Sturmgeschutz of World War 2. Each member chose from a list of either major or notable variants. The final display featured 16 Sturmgeschutz III and 2 Sturmgeschutz IV in 1:35 scale.
Brian Alfano coordinated the project, and custom built the display board to look like the side profile of a Sturmgeschutz III. The chapter logo was laser-cut from metal, and a thick piece of glass was bead blasted in a German font by Tim Promin. Painting it Dunkelgrau was accomplished by Frank Blanton, and the model bases were created by Ashley Abernathy. Glen Martin helped organize a notebook that documented the display. The group display was finished six months later and was unveiled at AMPS 2009.
