A camaraderie of armor model builders...
AMPS Central Virginia is an officially sanctioned chapter of the Armor Modeling & Preservation Society ( AMPS ), an international organization for armored vehicle modelers and historians alike. Our chapter is based in Richmond, Virginia but members come from a much larger geographic area surrounding the capital city. In 1997 we became one of the first local chapters to build itself on the principles of AMPS. We are military vehicle enthusiasts that build in miniature with an eye for historical accuracy. Our camaraderie is founded in a willingness to learn and then pass this knowledge on to others.
We hold monthly meetings to conduct instructive seminars and discuss member projects. See some of our demonstrations on the Tutorials page.
Our monthly newsletter promotes our chapter events, provides useful modeling tips and documents the member projects that are brought forth at our meetings. Archived newsletters are available on the Newsletter page.
Occasionally we visit armored vehicle museums, historical events or modeling conventions. See some of those on our Events page.
Our members are always busy finishing new projects in all scales and genres and we feature them at our monthly meetings. Just a portion of those are on display in the Showcase pages.
Our chapter is all-volunteer with no elected officers. An annual membership of $12 is optional but helps to maintain this website and provide other benefits. Please send us a request for more information using the Contact page.
