AMPS Central Virginia is a chapter sanctioned officially by the Armor Modeling & Preservation Society (AMPS), an international organization for armored vehicle modelers and historians alike. We represent an area in and around Richmond, Virginia.

Philosophy:

We are military vehicle enthusiasts that build in miniature with an eye for historical accuracy. Our camaraderie is founded in a willingness to learn and then pass this knowledge on to others.

In 1997 we became one of the first local chapters to build itself around the concept of AMPS. Our monthly meetings are gatherings to conduct instructive seminars and discuss member projects.

News: AMPS Central Virginia returned from Auburn, Indiana after attending the national AMPS convention on 11-12 April. The twelve-hour drive was well worth it, as most of us thought it was the best AMPS yet. The facility was first-rate, with lots of room in the display hall. Two large attached buildings housed military vehicles on one side, and racing vehicles on the other. Many unique subjects were there on display, including a German Sd.Kfz 8 Half Track and Steyr RSO. Over 500 models were entered in the contest, and all of our members came home with medals. Our members worked several shifts as Field Judges and Assistant Chief Judge. Congratulations are due AMPS President Danny Egan, First Vice-President Roy Chow, Chief Judge John Charvat, and all the AMPS staff and volunteers that made it work splendidly.
