AMPS Central Virginia is a chapter sanctioned officially by the Armor Modeling & Preservation Society (AMPS), an international organization for armored vehicle modelers and historians alike. We represent an area in and around Richmond, Virginia.
We are military vehicle enthusiasts that build in miniature with an eye for historical accuracy. Our camaraderie is founded in a willingness to learn and then pass this knowledge on to others.
In 1997 we became one of the first local chapters to build itself around the concept of AMPS. Our monthly meetings are gatherings to conduct instructive seminars and discuss member projects. In 2008 we also became an IPMS USA Chapter.
Our joint effort with IPMS Richmond was another success in 2009! AMPS Central VA members and volunteers that came to the show signed up to help, and we judged 150 armor model entries by the AMPS standard and awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals to those that met the criteria. We offer up our thanks to all that helped make the show success, and hope to return in 2010! We also have 120 images for your enjoyment.
